Facilities Operations DepartmentElectricianResponsibilities: Installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following the manufacturer's recommendations, local code, national electrical code (NEC), manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints. Maintains electrical systems, generators, transformers, and appliances through panels, switches, meters, and circuit breakers; troubleshoots and repairs motors and other electrical/electronic controls; calibrates electronic devices, meters, and sensors. Maintains electrical, electronic, and direct digital control systems, fire and security alarm systems, control and distribution apparatus including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit-breaker panels, etc. Installs and connects power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following manufacturer's recommendations, diagrams, schematics, or blueprints. Diagnoses and resolves problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment such as multimeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, and testing equipment, soldering iron, wire puller, pipe bender and threader, hand and power tools (saw, drill, etc.), ladder. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using rulers, measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threader, and conduit bender; pulls wiring through conduit. Receives and completes work orders and preventative maintenance orders utilizing a computer based maintenance management system. Selects material and hardware and makes time and materials estimates. Detects needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspections and preventative maintenance work orders. Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provides access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and electrical codes.
