D.R. Horton, Inc.is currently looking for aDirector of Landfor their Operations Department. The right candidate willmanage Land Department by overseeingbudget, engineering and constructionopportunities to meet the business needs of the division. Ensure the due diligence process is completed within the contractual time frame, and all entitlements and approvals are secured. Essential communication established with the Development Department to schedule infrastructure construction for new residential site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Participates as part of the senior management team to manage issues regardingBudget engineering and construction

Implement strategic policies for land objectives to maintain land and lots for forward planning

Establish positive working relationships with government authorities, local agents and land owners

Research, network, identify, evaluate and secure land sites for residential development

Negotiate the acquisition of properties with landowners, attorneys orbroker for easements, right of way necessary for construction

Coach and mentor for value engineering, budget controls, and best practice construction elements techniques to Land Acquisition staff

Assume ultimate responsibility for site appraisals and acquisition proposals

Achieve final inspection(s) approvals, and governmental agency approvals, utility company approval to build project on time and under budget.

Ensure active and quality communication is established and maintained with other internal departments regarding the status of future projects.

Verify due diligence process is progressing and will be completed on time

Interface with Land Department staff during due diligence to verify checklist is completed from contract phase through post-closing phase

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 2 or more employees in the Land Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
