Summary

The Richard L. Roudebush VA Health Care System is currently recruiting for a Full-time, Permanent, A/C Equipment Operator who will work within Engineering Service.

Responsibilities

Repairs and maintains a variety of large commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems and supporting equipment with complex problems and extensive repairs requiring judgment to locate malfunctions. Calculates air now and pressure-temperature characteristics. Maintenance includes dismantling, repairing, reassembling, and testing units such as pumps, impellers, compressors, chillers, receivers, condensers, and evaporators. Receives all calls of a maintenance and repair nature concerning the Engineering Service during non-administrative hours. Assists in the installation of pumps, rearranging steam lines. valves, etc. and troubleshooting electrical and instrument control systems with the Chiller Plant, in gas and oil burners, air conditioning panel boards and graphic control board. Ability to interpret the aforementioned and apply to all facets of the combined plant operation. Determines the extent of the emergency and to notify the proper personnel concerning the emergency situation even when overtime is required. Plans, lays out, and installs a variety of large complex commercial and industrial systems and supporting equipment used to condition air in warehouses, shops, hangars, hospitals, and large office buildings. Troubleshoots a variety of large commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems and supporting equipment. Checks elements which control low and high side pressure; the temperature of the cooling units, liquid and suction lines, and the running time of various mechanisms. Tests refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, and related control systems and equipment. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing such as safety shoes, glasses, ear protection, face masks, und/or hard hats. Utilizes established safety practices, rules, regulations, and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position.
