Covance EHS Specialist II in Greenfield, Indiana

Job Overview:

  • Administers environmental, health, and safety programs to meet regulatory requirements and company goals.

  • Provide technical expertise with regard to risk assessment activities so to minimize EHS related risk (e.g. fire, environmental releases, injuries and illnesses, etc.) to Covance.

  • Develops and implements facility-wide policies, procedures, and EHS training programs to ensure compliance with applicable state/country regulatory requirements and industry standards on a country, regional and global basis.

  • Inspects facilities and operations for regulatory and company policy compliance.

  • Conducts accident and incident investigations.

  • Actively promotes environmental, health, and safety activities, participates in committees and meetings, and provides miscellaneous services.

  • May lead EHS Committee and Team activities, such as department safety teams, emergency response team, etc.

  • May function as the Chemical Hygiene Officer, Radiation Safety Officer, Emergency Coordinator, Biological Safety Officer or Technical Lead.

  • May function as a member or leader of EHS audit team.

  • Initiate, establish and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external clients.

  • Promote positive relationships with government agencies.

  • Motivate direct and indirect reporting staff to achieve desired results.

  • Communicate effectively with site management and employees.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Technical Field and minimum of 4 years EHS experience preferably in a laboratory or research and development environment; Advanced degree with 2 years EHS experience

  • Professional Certification in a Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Occupational Health or Environmental area preferred.
