The Salvation Army - Metro Division Building Maintenance Supervisor in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Overview

Under minimal supervision of the Corps Officers the Building Maintenance Supervisor, is responsible to perform building maintenance for all Fort Wayne Salvation Army properties. Provide direct supervision to janitorial staff and janitorial volunteers. Provides support to other departments or staff by assisting or coordinating set up and tear down for events, programs or functions. Report all potential building and grounds issues to the Corps Officers.

Responsibilities

 Supervise the daily activities of the janitorial staff, ensuring they are in compliance with all cleaning schedules. Ensure any repairs to the building or facilities are completed or scheduled in a timely manner. Periodically check the building for structural soundness, bringing potential issues to the attention of the Corp Officer as soon as possible. Must be available for response to building alarms after hours, as a primary contact person. During emergency situations, evacuation, ensure that all offices, class rooms, meeting rooms, etc… are empty prior to retreating to your designated area, checking in with the administrative manager and accounting for your staff and volunteers. Work directly with Fire Marshal on fire drills and inspections. Ensure compliance with all fire codes. Ensure all painting, heavy cleaning including carpets, walls and exterior of building, landscaping and lawn maintenance are performed on a regular basis. Ensure vehicles are clean and maintained on a regular schedule to include oil changes, routine servicing, weekly fueling, washing etc. Maintenance of basement floors to include, stripping, waxing, buffing and ordering of related equipment. Ensure all cleaning and building equipment is in good working condition. Perform routine maintenance for equipment to preserve the life span. Ensure all maintenance volunteers, including those from other agencies, are knowledgeable of emergency procedures, location of first aid kits and where to report in case of an evacuation of the building etc. Responsible to notify the Administrative Manager of any changes, additions, or deletions to inventory pertaining to building maintenance, storage sheds, janitors closets, tables/chairs, cleaning equipment/supplies. In conjunction with the Administrative Manager, ensure all projects covered by grants are bid by three (3) companies and upon authorization schedule work to be completed in a timely manor. Promote healthy relationships with other agencies and volunteers i.e. Township. Ensure the building is properly secured at the end of the day with all lights turned off, doors locked and air conditioning units in the proper position. Ensure all building maintenance contractors are performing in accordance to their agreement. Ensure all permits for building are current, or brought to the attention of the administrative manager for renewal. In conjunction with Administrative Manager, handle disciplinary actions as needed, providing proper documentation for all incidents. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 Education:o Must have a high school diploma or GED with several years of related on the job experience

 Experience: Prefer Supervisory Experience

 Certifications:o Must have a valid Indiana Driver’s License, a good driving record and proof of insurance.o Must have current CPR and first aid certification
